I love technology. I really really do. I love the t’internetz and my iphone and skype and spotify and all this things that keep me connected to family and friends all the while listening to some groovy music. I also love going out and seeing the world. What I don’t like is getting lost when I’m supposed to be somewhere to meet someone. I’m hopeless w/ maps and I’m constantly second guessing google when it tells me to go somewhere. People would tell me Lindy get a TomTom! I’d nod at them and say that yes we probably should get one but wouldn’t actually get around to it. We finally did it a couple of months ago after I had a horrible time finding a craft show in Liverpool. I was on the motorway and became completely disoriented and couldn’t for the life of me find my way. I did eventually find it but I was over an hour late. I was pissed off and irritated and just had enough. So Wal and I ordered one the next day. I still get confused even with it- finding parking garages can be tricky when you don’t know what/where they are in relation to where you want to be. I’m getting better. It totally rocks and I’m beyond pleased w/ it. Combine the TomTom w/ my iPhone and the world is by lobster!
Yesterday Squidge and I went fruit picking at Kenyon Hall Farm. It was a gloriously sunny day and although late in the season we picked enough raspberries to make ice cream with. We tried to pick blackberries but w/ the prickles and the lack of ripe ones we gave up after just picking one- which Squidge promptly gobbled up.
We spent a really fantastic morning there and after running around a bit and picking up some more fruit and veg from the farm shop we decided to hit the road.
At first I was going to go straight home but then decided it was too early and I wanted to go somewhere else. Normally I would just go home because I don’t know how to get anywhere w/out checking out google maps first then printing out directions. The realization that I could just go anywhere now that I have the tomtom was a heady feeling. I KNOW that sounds really really corny but it was! I looked up Jodrell Bank on my iPhone got the postcode and keyed it into the tomtom and off we went.
That is HUGE! The feeling that I can change my plans like that. We drove through some really beautiful countryside all the while being guided by a ‘Kate’ and she got us there in one piece.
After some more running around and looking for ‘leaves’ we decided to head on home as it was getting late. I should have taken a photo of Squidge when we got home. The little stinker was eating all the strawberries we bought and was a sticky mess when we got home!
