The one with the view

For my birthday Wal got me a bicycle- with a wicker basket on the front.  I love it while also thinking I’m too young for an old lady bike.  We have been out riding our bikes all week and I absolutely love it.  This afternoon we went to Wythenshawe Park and had a fantastic time- the EXACT thing I always dreamed of doing when all three of us had bikes.  Squidge did really well and didn’t complain much.  Apparently, the secret to a whinge free afternoon is ice cream!

They were having a Springwatch “Wild Day Out” event there.  There were loads of people there which was a bit of a shock to us.  Our main goal was to cycle to we mainly avoided the event and we still managed to find some lovely quiet spots.  We cycled into a walled kitchen garden filled w/ potatoes and onions and tomatoes and so much more.  I totally fell in love with it especially as I have dreams of having my own little garden when we move.

They also have a horse riding club and is a great way for “city” kids to learn to ride without actually having to own and care for a horse.  I’d love for Squidge to join something like this.  Hoping there is something like this closer to home.  There was a beautiful white horse nibbling on some leaves but as soon as I pulled out my camera she got camera shy and turned her back to us.  Squidge thought this was very funny.  We also noticed that they had some “plays in the park” events organized throughout the summer.  Wal and I will have to get a babysitter and relive our younger single childless days.  While both living in South Carolina we used to go to Shakespeare in the park events all the time and loved it.

I think I’m going to start a new series here on Squidgyboo called- view from my bike!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!

No we drove there- can’t image trying to cycle through Northenden! She is getting better and better- her knew trick is to cycle standing up. She cycled on the grass too and that is really difficult. Like I said ice cream is the wonder food!! We’re going to try to organize one of those cycle through the countryside to a pub kinda of trips. We have a book that does country walks where you start and end at a pub. I’m hoping to find a books like that but for cycling.
