What do you do when you’re not the most green fingered person to ever be? It’s a question I ask myself when I’m trying to add a bit of warmth into our house. I love all things flowers and plants but I don’t know if I can keep something alive for long.
Another thing was that I couldn’t find any house plants I really liked. I don’t remember having a hard time finding houseplants in the US. I might be looking in the wrong places! I was on t’interweb, as you do, a few months ago and saw some succulents and had one of those light bulb moments. Succulents! They’re easy to care for aren’t they?
I ordered a bunch of succulents from an online site and waited for these little bits of green to work their way to my house and turn it into a green shangri-la.
The succulents all arrived wrapped in newspaper and I carefully unwrapped everything and popped them into some pots I had picked up at Ikea. I really wasn’t too hopeful and thought most of them would die a slow and painful death. I’m happy to report that they’re all alive and well and looking fab!
I did have a moment when I thought my stone plant wasn’t going to make it. It’s a little succulent that looks like a stone and I had potted it in a shallow glass pot. I think it got too hot in there as it started to look a bit wrinkly. I repotted it into a different pot and it’s thriving!
I love succulents and I’m so glad I took the plunge and ordered them on line. So much cheaper and more variety so a win win. Do you love succulents? Any tips you’d like to share?
