Rugs, modern? Traditional? Colourful? Neutral?

We finally found some sofa’s that would fit through our narrow porch door.  You have NO idea what a palaver replacing our old broken down sofa turned out to be.  I bought sofa’s from Loaf and Habitat and had to return both of them.  The first because I assumed our giant sofa could get out so a smaller sofa could get it- wrong! The second sofa because I measured wrong- duh! So, now I have sofas I need to decide on what rug to buy!  After searching high and low for rugs I think would look good I am now more confused than ever!

I am bad with colour. Or I think I am! I think mainly I waffle between wanting to have sophisticated tastes and going batshit crazy and decorating with things I like- FYI batshit crazy usually wins!

So our sofas are a soft light grey (see above) and I just don’t know what rug to get for the room. The sofas is pretty traditional, a favourite design style of mine is to mix traditional with modern or batshit crazy.  I think it fits with my personality- chaotic!  The room really does need a rug- the floors are wood and need a something to warm up the room.  I also have a dog (a large shaggy dog) and a cat so I don’t want anything I am going to be too precious with.  At the moment I’m favouring the yellow rug (above)

I’m leaning towards rugs in shades of yellow. Or maybe soft blue rugs? Or should I go for rugs that are a bit more neutral?  Aaaargh I just don’t know what to do!

Oh gosh I love those rugs! All three of them! They would all go beautifully with your new sofa (where did you get it from? My leather sofas are peeling, yuck!). I would definitely go for the first one, simply because I have 4 messy monkeys and it looks like it would be easy to wipe clean, and probably wouldn’t show hair and mess as much as traditional wool rugs would. Where is it from? It would be perfect for my front room if I ever have money to sort it out. x

Love all these. I have grey sofa’s and a grey and yellow rug with a pink border from Habitat (look on ebay as there are some great bargains to be had on new habitat rugs).

I’m a wuss so I always go for a rug based on how comfy and soft it is… But that first one is the one I’d choose in this case, would look fab! x

I love the chevron rug, your colour scheme seems to be similar to mine with teal and mustard, i recently bought a chevron grey rug myself but that one is better! That’s my pick.

Really really like the top one not usually into patterns but do adore a bit of yellow. How cool did you look at the mads!

I love the three but I prefer the first one.
